The Danish Embassy in Accra and Alumichem proudly hosted World Water Day 2025 on 20 March 2025. This event, themed “Water Quality Impacts,” brought together policymakers, water quality experts, academia, and industry professionals from Ghana and West Africa to address pressing water quality challenges and discuss effective solutions.

  • Opening Remarks by Danish Ambassador Tom Nørring and Alumichem CCO Christian Bang-Møller

  • Expert Presentations on:
    • The current status of water quality in Ghana
    • Health risks associated with heavy metal residues in surface water
    • How poor raw water quality affects treatment capacity, infrastructure, and cost

  • 🎤 Panel discussion: A lively and insightful panel discussion featured representatives from the Environmental Protection Authority, the Water Resource Commission, Ghana Water Ltd, and Alumichem. The discussion focused on strategies for maintaining the supply of clean drinking water amidst worsening raw water conditions.
