Essential in Municipal Water Treatment

The municipal waste water treatment plants are subject to rigorous discharge limits that only will get more and more strict by time. This means that biological cleaning isn’t enough to meet these requirements. A chemical cleaning of the water is also necessary to achieve a satisfying level of purification.

With aluminium based flocculants it’s possible to filter out tiny particles that are invisible to the eye, but still can pollute nature and drinking water. Used in Small Wastewater Treatment Plants

It’s not only big factories and municipals that may need treatment of their wastewater.

Especially in the Nordic countries, the authorities tighten the requirements for discharge of waste water. Because of this, private homeowners of all year-round and leisure homes are faced with new demands for cleaning their waste water, before it is led out or submerged.

Flocculants remove phosphor

Depending on the area where the water is led out or submerged there are different requirements. In some areas, it is enough to remove organic matter. In other environmentally sensitive areas, both phosphor and nitrogen must be removed. One way to solve this is to install a small wastewater treatment plant where microorganisms and flocculants will purify the water before it is led out.

AluPAC (Polyaluminium chloride) is an effective flocculant for removal of phosphor in small wastewater treatment plants. AluSAL – Advantages of sodium aluminates

All Alumichem A/S’ Sodium Aluminate solutions are produced according to EN 882 (Chemicals used for the treatment of water intended for human consumption). Aluminum products reduce chemical sludge production compared to iron, due to the low molecular weight of AI. Aluminates raise the alkalinity of the water, eliminating the need for lime or hydroxides. Additionally, Sodium Aluminate has a very low content of heavy metals.

The high content of AI in aluminates facilitates lowered transport costs.

AluPAC – Poly Aluminum Chloride

AluPAC is produced according to EN 883 (Chemicals used for the treatment of water intended for human consumption). With slightly larger molecules compared to Sodium Aluminate, AluPAC provides excellent flocculation properties.

AluPAC is also suited for Microthrix (filamentous bacterium) control in wastewater.
