World Water Day 2025: Tackling Water Quality Challenges in West Africa

On March 20, 2025, Alumichem proudly co-hosted a high-impact World Water Day 2025 event at the Danish Embassy in Accra, Ghana, under the global theme: “Water Quality Impacts.” This special gathering brought together key stakeholders from across Ghana and West Africa—including policymakers, regulators, researchers, and industry professionals—for a day of collaboration, insight, and action.

A platform for dialogue and action

The event focused on the region’s most pressing water quality issues and the critical role water treatment plays in public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure efficiency. With a sharp rise in contaminants like heavy metals and increasing pressure on water treatment facilities, the need for innovative and sustainable solutions has never been greater.

Illegal mining and untreated wastewater are contaminating vital water sources, overwhelming treatment plants, and threatening public health.
