The two managing directors, who are the company’s founders and majority shareholders, make up Alumichem’s top management and are responsible for chartering the overall direction of the company and ensuring, together with its subsidiary, that they meet all obligations and areas of responsibility. Jen Husted Kjær
Managing Director, Alumichem
Jens holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He started his career as Commissioning Manager at FL Smidth A/S, where he was responsible for the opening of cement factories in countries such as Israel, China, Pakistan, Chile and Spain. Later on, Jens moved to Haldor Topsøe A/S as Business Manager, where he started a new catalyst division.
As an entrepreneur, Jens founded and was the Director of CoMeTas A/S. Here, he created an award-winning growth company specialising in ceramic membrane technology. Later on, he took on a position as Chief Business Innovation Director at Grundfos Management A/S. In 2012, Jens moved to Calgary to start up Oreco Canada Corp.
In addition, Jens has helped start a number of other companies, including Copenhagen Chemicals ApS, which is now Alumichem and where, together with Christian Kemp, he is the main shareholder. Jens is also the CEO of Alumichem Corp., Waterhouse Environmental Services Corp. in Vancouver.

Christian has a BSc in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), has studied economics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and holds a diploma in business administration from CBS as well.
Christian has more than 20 years of experience in chemistry and equipment for water purification in Denmark and internationally. He began his career selling filtration solutions to the pharmaceutical and other industries before becoming a consulting engineer at Birch & Krogboe (now Alectia). Christian then moved to GE Water & Power, where he worked with specialty chemicals for water and wastewater treatment, boilers, cooling systems and refinery processes.
As an entrepreneur, Christian helped found Innovayt, advising companies around the EU and national support schemes. After selling his shares in Innovayt, Christian founded Applications Factory, which worked with the development of electrochemical flocculation processes for the fishing industry.
In 2011, Christian founded Copenhagen Chemicals (now Alumichem) together with Jens Husted Kjær and has built the business as the CEO. Together with Jens Husted Kjær, Christian is the main shareholder in Alumichem.
Thomas Eilkær Hansen
Thomas holds an MSc in Civil Engineering and Fluid Mechanics from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He is co-founder of Alumichem.
Thomas has worked with design, production and operation of water purification systems in more than 10 years. Thomas has patented several innovative technologies and been co-founder of a number of companies all within the field of water purification and related technologies.
He has lived a number of years in Canada where he was responsible for the development of a technical organization at Oreco Canada Corp. He has international sales experience from North America, South America, Asia and Europe.
Morten Schaldemose has an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and also holds an EMBA with honours from INSEAD. Morten has served as the Executive Vice President of the refinery unit of Haldor Topsøe A/S since 2013. He has held a number of positions at Haldor Topsøe within the refinery area, including Head of Marketing and Sales.
Morten started at Haldor Topsøe in 1997 after working for Kuwait Petroleum International. From 2008 to 2013 he was the COO and CEO at several clean-tech companies before returning to Haldor Topsøe.
